Awkward Luminescence

Skin below my nails

Like shells on a lonely beach

Romance by the light of pistol shots

The train caused tremors that made the light fixtures dance

So many stars reflecting off the walls like space itself was unstable

I could say the words although my mouth willing
my heart was unable.

The pills made me lucid and I fell below the surface of this awkward
luminescence.

And that is when you came to me, slowly silently in the semi-darkness and enveloped me.

Like an octopus in the far off ocean
